What is Marimekko?

From FinnStyle:

Marimekko is a Finnish design house renowned for its bold, effusive prints and timeless patterns. The company was founded in 1951 by Finnish couple Armi and Viljo Ratia, and the name Marimekko translated literally means "Mary-dress." Marimekko's impact reaches far beyond just Finland, however, as the brand gained global recognition in the 1960s with its cheerful and eccentric designs. This quickly began to influence fashion and interior trends worldwide, and Marimekko became regarded as one of the world's first real lifestyle brands. Offering fashion and accessories alongside home décor in seamless harmony, the brand continues to maintain its commitment to timeless design that celebrates individuality and the joy of everyday living. Marimekko is host to a variety of acclaimed painters and designers, aiming to welcome in diverse and creative groups of young talent to create one-of-a-kind textile prints.

Joan collects and curates Marimekko fabrics straight from Finland to create her custom jackets, accessories, and gifts for the home.

The fabric arrives in long linen panels, and then Joan chooses which parts of the fabric she will use for different projects.

You can see here that Joan used the top of a panel is make one of her signature jackets with the cloudy gray/blue pattern, and another in the yellow/green grass pattern.
